Tandem skydiving is one of the most popular ways to make your first jump. You don't need any experience to make a tandem skydive, so it's perfect for first time jumpers. Here are our tips to help you enhance your tandem experience.
1. Choose a USPA Member Drop Zone
The USPA (United States Parachute Association) is the regulatory body for the sport of skydiving. The USPA provides guidance and regulations to ensure we stay safe.
If you're planning to make a tandem skydive, be sure to choose a drop zone (DZ) which is a USPA member (like San Jose Skydiving Center!). You can check this by contacting the drop zone and asking them for their member number. You can also use the drop zone locator provided by the USPA.
2. Do your research to find the right DZ for you
Each DZ will have its own style of working and it's worth spending some time researching to find the DZ that's right for you.
A good way to get a feel for the DZ's style is to give them a call, or check them out on social media. Take a look at their Google reviews or TripAdvisor ratings to see how other customers have rated them and how happy you are to put your experience in their hands.
3. Book a morning tandem skydive slot
Your chosen drop zone is likely to offer you a choice of time slots for your tandem skydive. This choice can make a difference to your experience of your jump.
We recommend booking a morning skydive, as it tends to be less windy and cooler in temperature, making for a more comfortable experience for you.
4. Eat normally before your jump
Making your very first skydive is an adrenaline filled experience. You're likely to feel nervous, excited, even nauseous.
It's important you eat normally during this time, to keep your body fuelled and ready for your jump. It will also prevent you feeling nauseated by the adrenaline of the skydive.
5. Bring your friends!
Skydiving is a really fun experience and we find it's best when shared with friends or family. So bring them along to watch! They'll be able to see you take off in the plane and welcome you as you come in to land under your parachute.
Most drop zones have really nice spectator areas and places to eat and drink, so it's a great fun day out for everyone.
6. Get a photography/video package
Your tandem skydive will be one of the most memorable experiences of your life. Capture those memories by adding a photography/video package to your jump; great for sharing with friends and family and posting to your social media channels.
Tandem skydiving is a fantastic way to experience the thrill of skydiving. Book your skydive online today, take a look at our prices or get in touch if you'd like to talk about skydiving at San Jose Skydiving Center.
The most AMAZING experience of my life! Can't wait to go again!
